| Summary of the Case |
The Liberia Anti- Corruption Commission has commenced an investigation into suspected irregularities at the National Insurance Corporation of Liberia(NICOL) involving several key officials of the said entity. Those invited for questioning include Mr. Dweh Thomas Bedell, Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Prince T. Freeman, Account Clerk; and Mrs. Charlotte Y. D. Kpanah, Comptroller. The Liberia Anti- Corruption Commission in a press release on its website, dated October 16,2025, stated, "Despite an earlier invitation, the officials failed to submit the required financial records within the two-week's period granted by the Commission".
After several follow-ups by the commission, and continued noncompliance by those officials, the LACC claimed to have taken lawful measures to ensure their presence and cooperation to aid with the investigation. The Commission emphasized that , "the invitation and subsequent actions are consistent with standard investigative procedures. They are intended to provide those officials with the opportunity to clarify their roles and submit relevant information critical to the case under review." |
