The Inquirer Newspaper in its August 6, 2026 print and online edition reported that, “Police in Kakata City, Margibi County have taken into custody 47-year-old Baysah Cooper, a former business manager and registrar of Wenwu M. Miller School of Excellence following allegations that he misapplied L$2,202,860.In an informative report filed by Supt. Mohammed V. Kromah, commander of the Crime Services Department (CSD) of the Margibi Police Detachment, Samuel Padmore, acting on behalf of the private school in Kakata City, reported the suspected theft to the department on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.”
Kromah’s report explained that Padmore, a resident of Johnsonville Community in Montserrado County, in the complaint, alleges that suspect Cooper of Jambo Village in Kakata misapplied the fund while serving as the institution’s business manager and registrar between 2024 and 2025.The report said considering the seriousness of the allegation and the amount reportedly involved, the accused was invited to the Margibi County Police Headquarters to provide an explanation regarding his involvement. It mentioned that the accused confirmed his former employment with the school during the stated period, but declined to make a statement regarding the alleged missing funds. The police report furthered that Padmore provided documentary evidence to the CSD, including bank statements and students’ fee payment receipts. According to the paper “The documents reviewed during the investigation, established reasonable grounds to believe that the accused may be connected to the alleged misapplication. According to the report, based on the available evidence, suspect Baysah K. Cooper was placed under police custody pending his appearance before the appropriate court.
