Verity Online reported on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, that Presiding Judge A. Blamo Dixon handed down judgment against two former officials of Last Mile Health, Saah Joseph Nyumah and T. Max Zorh, sentencing each to six years’ imprisonment after finding them guilty of misappropriating US$234,843 intended for the organization’s healthcare operations in River Cess County.
The paper further stated that, following a six-week bench trial presided over by Judge Dixon, the two men were convicted of Theft of Property, Misapplication of Entrusted Property, and Criminal Conspiracy.
According to the report, the indictment alleged that between August 27, 2021, and July 29, 2022, the defendants intentionally misapplied and converted funds entrusted to them while serving in various capacities within Last Mile Health’s River Cess County program.
The paper also noted that a Grand Jury during the August 2025 Term of Court indicted four former employees over the alleged theft of organizational funds; the Republic of Liberia, through the Last Mile Health Liberia Country Office, initiated the prosecution.
In addition, prosecutors presented evidence during the trial alleging that the defendants engaged in several financial irregularities, including a US$6,000 cash withdrawal reportedly made without supporting documentation, failure to account for an additional US$42,112 in organizational funds, and deliberately splitting procurement transactions to circumvent Last Mile Health’s financial policy, which requires higher-level approval for purchases exceeding US$10,000.
Court documents further alleged that fuel and vehicle spare parts were purchased through multiple checks issued to the same vendors on the same dates—a practice prosecutors argued violated the organization’s procurement procedures and internal financial controls.
Finally, the paper revealed that Isaac Weah remains at large, with criminal proceedings against him still pending before the court.
